The tree planting project organised by Chilton Foliat Parish Council moved a step further when Councillors Ann McMath and Paul Outridge led a team of volunteers to Field View recreation ground to start the planting of trees kindly donated by the Woodland Trust. Volunteers Brian, Vanessa, John, Rita and Liz set to work alongside Ann and Paul on Saturday 15 April planting a mixture of Hawthorn, Silver Birch, Hazel, Blackthorn and Rowan to enhance the area and make it more suitable for birds and other wildlife.
Further planting will take place, including English Oak saplings, around the new development of Popham Close which will also benefit from a new hedge following the fencing to the north of the development.
Our grateful thanks to all the volunteers and especially to the Woodland Trust for their kind donations to this project.
Paul Outridge
